Mars in Perihelion, which means that Mars is the closest it has ever been to the Earth in 60,000 years! (see www.space.com) This is a big deal energetically, emotionally, astrologically and politically. I have heard all kinds of stories since Mars entered Pisces June 17, and situations that seem weird, awkward, irritating, annoying and just plain out of whack… people have asked me, what’s going on? Is Mercury retrograde or something? No, not yet, it’s just Mars the planet of chaos and conflict coming close to the Earth in the watery sign of Pisces, aka the sign of confusion ;-). Why? Because things get murky in the water, actions (Mars) get thwarted when Mars moves through emotional and watery Pisces, you could say, the whole world is suffering from ‘mood swings’ or just a little too much testosterone. That’s been going on since June 17, on July 29, it retrogrades, and you thought things couldn’t get any worse? Just kidding…however during retrogrades it’s generally a time to go within, so practicing gentleness is the best way to be, both with yourself and with others. Time to dissolve that Martian ego and dive into that Piscean ocean of dreams and desires.
July 29 also happens to be the New Moon in Leo which is all about heart. Living joyfully is our gift back to God. Getting in touch with that inner child and creating more love, pleasure and creativity in your life. Pride is the only downfall when it comes to Leo, they really do love to shine and be the center of all attention and don’t they get so pouty when they can’t always be the top cat? It’s interesting as all New Moons represents the seeds for new beginnings, and on this lunation, Mars is turning retrograde, which has a lot to do with what’s igniting this new phase. The challenge to transmute ego and pride into love, joy and gratitude for all life, is the divine plan within this cycle. But with the retrograde in Pisces, forgiveness and compassion is key to realizing this within and without. Go easy on your self and those around you…it’s not going to be the end of the world, just a necessary period of change. Moon Wobbles & Mercury Retrograde
On July 29 through September 16, 2003 we enter into yet another unusually long Moon and Solar Wobble, eclipsed by a Mercury Retrograde beginning August 28 – September 20, 2003. This one’s a real doozey, and here’s why: First of all, to add fuel to the fire, Mars is retrograde in Pisces July 29 – September 27, 2003. The day Mars stations retro is the beginning of our Moon & Solar Wobble. O.k., think of it as an opportunity to clear out all the negative energy from your psyches, kind of like separating the wheat from the chafe, or clearing the fields of dead leaves and making a bonfire to clear the space for new growth. As many of you know, with Moon Wobbles (see Moon Wobble article above) it’s time for repressed emotional energy to surface to be dealt with and with Mars retrograde (which only happens roughly once every 2-3 years), it signifies a cycle where repressed anger can potentially surface. Mars retrograde is also a time to deal with repressed sexuality on all levels in an effort to balance it’s energy. The Warrior Evolves into the Healer
Mars has long been known to be the God of War, in Astrology it rules over our desires, and our anger, our impatience, energy, sex drive, our reproductive organs, men and the masculine force in general. Mars energy has also been known for its abuse, its cruelty and it’s destruction. With Mars retrograde in Pisces it is a time to begin to release and undo the aggressions and abuses of the past. It’s the path of the Warrior to become healers and peacemakers, this is the highest level of evolution, when they choose to put down their swords, let go of their anger and see that the universe really is all about love. This will no doubt be a busy time for healers, energy workers and therapists of all kinds. It’s time to let all these old patterns go and be dissolved into the compassionate waters of Pisces. Feeling Irritable? This is certainly a time where it’s easy to be impatient and tempers get tested. When Mars retrogrades during perihelion, it’s a time where all the repressed Mars energy surfaces. People are just plain rude at times, for no apparent reason. This is a time when conflict and chaos seem to reign. Accidents are more prevalent, particularly because most automobile accidents happen because of repressed anger, impatience and just outright road rage. Mars in Pisces retrograde confuses the issue…was it you or the other person who caused it? A typical scenario is someone is driving recklessly, or impatiently and hits a person who has repressed anger. Of course the person with the repressed anger feels like the victim, there’s nothing they did to cause the accident, or did they? Are there really any accidents in the universe? Isn’t it all about energy and the exchange of it? Doesn’t the universal law of like attract like exist even in traffic? I once had a client who got hit from behind three times in a row over the course of a few years. Fortunately, she had enough awareness to realize at after the 3rd hit that she needed to deal with some stuff from her past, which she for years had denied. This position of Mars will bring to the surface your denials. And what is denial anyway but repressed power and misplaced energy? Getting in touch with your emotions now, is the theme of the day, the big power planets are all in water signs, (Saturn in Cancer, Uranus and Mars in Pisces) if you’re the type of person who can’t handle emotional talk, then watch out, you’re in for a rough ride. If dealing with emotions is something you are willing to work on, then this period will be so cathartic and healing for you, you will be thanking the heavens for the opportunity to become ‘unstuck’. Feeling Sexy? Mars in retrograde generally stimulates the sex drive in both men and women. It is usually a time when those who are single can find themselves in a hot sexual affair, sometimes it’s the love of your dreams, and other times, it’s just the best sex you’ve ever had. As this is a major outlet for mars energy. Mars in Pisces has to do with Sex, Love & Romance all wrapped up in the "dream lover". If you’re already in a committed relationship, this phase definitely has the potential to spice things up quite a bit. Planning a family? Mars rules reproduction…the ignition light of conception and the state of pregnancy. Sexually Repressed? Mars retrograde is a time to break out of that rut, try new techniques, get in touch with your sexuality. Every time Mars retrogrades, issues around gay rights and acceptance typically get revisited and taken to a new level. Sexual Innuendo & Double Meanings: This is one of those phases where people will hear what they want to hear based on where their heads are at. Lot’s of sex jokes bantering around, people will find double meanings even in the most innocent type of language. Sex & Spirituality Mars at Perihelion Retrograde in Pisces might be the time when you begin to explore practices like Tantric Yoga or Tantric Sex. Nevertheless, it’s a time to regain that lost energy and make a break in some energetic habits.
Trends: All this water energy, Uranus and Mars in Pisces along with Saturn in Cancer brings new trends and fads, Mermaids are big now, somehow there is a wave in the collective psyche that is fascinated with these mystical mythical beings. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that at one time on our planet they actually did exist and who knows may have been created through genetic mutations. Nevertheless, their allure and mystery intrigues us. Anything to do with the sea now, ocean journeys, dolphins, whales and all things of a watery and aquatic nature, both in color and vibration become the new wave of fashion and cosmetic trends.
Psychic Surgery: Mars is also the sign that rules surgery, knives, and the cutting away of things and separation. It is the energy one needs to break away from what no longer serves you, along with the energy that tells you when its time to quit. But we must keep in mind that Mars retrograde in Pisces is not so much about scalpels or energy work such as Reiki, this surgery is taking place on our psyches. Life on Mars: Are we There Yet?
So if you
look at cycles, as what goes around comes around, what was going on here
on Earth and in our Solar System 60,000 years ago? We know that ancient
civilizations did in fact exist here and were called Atlantis, Lemuria and
Pan. I wonder how many of us during the Mars in Perihelion Retrograde in
Pisces will not only have dreams of the past as Mars is its closest to the
Earth during the last week of August. On August 27, 2003 at 5:51
a.m. EDT, Mars will be at perigee 34,646,418 miles away from Earth It’s hard to say exactly what will happen under this important cosmic event, but one thing for sure, it’s marked for change. Mars reaches perihelion once every 26 months, but this year, it’s the closest ever to not only to the Sun but to Earth. Not only is this a big deal, but Saturn will reach its perihelion on July 26, 2003 which it only does once every 30 years. The combination of the Saturnian authoritative and self-protective defense system (Saturn in Cancer) along with the willfulness and aggressiveness of Mars may however be confused and misdirected as it is retrograde in Pisces. Souls coming in under these influences now have within them the "cosmic codes" to bring forth the solutions of many problems and challenges we face in our times. It’s kind of like the old metaphysical adage that "within every seed is the tree". So it is with souls who are born during times of turmoil, political upheaval and war, it’s like they grow up with the opposite energy. They are the group that wants to extend life, through new ideas in the fields of rejuvenation and anti-aging. Think about it, what was going on during the times of your birth, you absorbed it as well as the solution to it, because everything works in polarities, it’s a fundamental law of physics. Death and Rebirth are two sides of the same coin as are War and Peace. For that being said, it is my opinion that all the babies being born have to be very old souls, because it takes a master to bring in the necessary energy to transmute the many different challenges we face today. The Cosmic Telegram – Your Right of Passage Has Begun So what will this profound celestial event bring? With Mars approaching so close to the earth, are we going to be bathed in testosterone for good or for bad? Can we change the world with aggressive energy? Or maybe the fact that this important event is happening in the sign of Pisces, the sign of compassion, sacrifice and selflessness, that feminine water energy may put some fires out and we’ll just be left with a lot of steam. Maybe in the sign of Pisces, the yin and the yang will finally merge and there will be balance as this planet of aggression has to travel down the cool stream of feminine energy. Maybe it’s like homeopathy of the heavens, polarity balancing. In my opinion the Pisces energy will serve as a great transmuter of what could potentially explode into violence and vengeance. I’m sure we’ll see our share of death and destruction, both by the hand of man and through nature, it’s all part of the cycle, but for those of us who will God willing survive this phase, how will we be transformed by it? That’s up to each of us to tune into this blaringly loud Cosmic Telegram. We are being given an opportunity to release and transform our impatience, our aggressions, our rage and anger, our violent natures. This period is like a right of passage similar to when adolescent boys are put through some religious ceremony which is usually followed by passing a series of tests, when they are considered to now be ‘men’ of the community. The adolescent becomes the young, strong yet responsible Man. That’s the evolutionary opportunity here as both Saturn and Mars reach perihelion only a month apart.
Mars has long been the symbol of men, wars and the military. The Roman Empire had a definite Martian quality to their power and so it goes. This is a particularly intense cycle happening in the emotional water sign of Pisces, so expect the Pisces Pea Soup to get stirred up quite a bit! Pisces is about belief systems, your belief and faith in a force beyond your self, the universe, God/Goddess, the Divine, whatever you choose to call it. The Age of Pisces has been an age where wars over religions and religious beliefs dominated the last 2,000 years. We are not yet finished with the Piscean Age, but we are riding on the last crest of its wave. It’s a time of resolution, a time to clear the decks of the old age and all its issues and find the connecting bridge to the future age of Aquarius..
Critical Mass Religion is a huge hang up of the Piscean Age…and the purpose of all religions is to teach us not only how to live together peacefully and harmoniously, but more importantly to find within us our own individual connection with the Divine within and without. Those who have found that path within whatever religion they’ve been birthed in, or found themselves in, understand that that’s a place of unity and community (common – unity). That’s when you find your own God spark within, you instantly, like electricity, connecting with all the other God sparks around you. That’s the realization of the threshold between the Piscean and the Aquarian Ages. It’s been said many times by many masters, that it only takes a small percentage of us to "get it" (critical mass), and the rest of humanity will evolve. In the bible there is the talk of the 144,000. Ascended Masters have said that it is the awakening of these 144,000 that will cause this shift, they have also alluded to the concept that the 144,000 represents the root tribes, that it is not a literal number of people but of original DNA groupings, and once they have all been fully awakened from the long sleep in the ‘dark age’, unity will inevitably occur because that is the Divine Plan. Buddhists have said it will take 7% of humanity to awaken to create critical mass, other’s have said 10%. Whatever it is….the point is, that as critical mass begins to connect to the lessons of the Piscean Age and transcend it’s darkness and shadows, we will all see ourselves in a New Age where religious differences and conflicts will become a thing of the past, kind of like the way we look at cave men and dinosaurs. Pisces is a sign of sacrifice, redemption, the victim and the savior. During the Piscean Age many have been sacrificed in the name of their religions and their gods. They willingly gave up their lives or committed suicide to become martyred. While another wave of this kind of religious fanaticism is upon us, it’s kind of like "the last hurrah" as this age moves towards resolution. .The Dream and the Nightmare
Nostradamus predicted that in the millennium there would be a 10 year war. It is my opinion that this 10 year war began on 9/11/2001, which has been called the war on terrorism. This is interesting metaphysically as the final phase of evolving out of the Piscean Age, is moving through fear. Pisces is symbolized by the fish of duality, one going one way and one going the other. It is the polarity of fear and love, the dream and the nightmare. So as the world wages its war against terrorists, it’s actually appropriate for all of us to work on conquering our fears, whatever they may be. Fear is related to Anger, and this one is the big stumbling block to resolve. Anger resolution is often related to loss and to sorrow – a Piscean issue. Pisces is also known as the sign of compassion, which is what is needed to transmute so much sorrow. Mars retrograde gives us all the opportunity to get in touch with repressed anger, find its pathways in our psyches and clear it. Healing needs to take place globally, but first it must begin within our selves. As I heal myself, I heal the planet. It is time for us to heal old wounds. If we can have the courage and the spiritual guts to look at our own repressed fears and anger and find ways we can deal with them in a healthy way, balance them, then that healing that we achieve in our own lives, will indeed ripple out to the rest of the world and all of this bloodshed, violence, terrorism and bullyism will become a thing of the past. Internal peace is an essential first step to achieving peace in the world. How do you cultivate it? It's very simple. In the first place by realizing clearly that all mankind is one, that human beings in every country are members of one and the same family.- The Dalai Lama So many of us here in America, live such indulgent lives, we take our freedoms for granted and our comforts, we forget that there are millions of people all over the world that are not as fortunate as we are. The world is still connected, whether we are conscious and awake to that truth or not. There is the collective consciousness and the collective subconsiousness. Whenever planets go retrograde, it is a time to get more in touch with the subconsciousness, clear it and reprogram it as necessary so that when the planets go direct, the consciousness is flooded with positive messages. Many Americans don’t realize that other parts of the world are living out our subconscious programming. It’s called the "Shadow" (see Pluto-Shamanism-and the Shadow) which has a life of its own when we are in denial of it, as that’s all the stuff we repress, we judge, we think is bad in ourselves, we’d rather not deal with it so we put it away, and that becomes the Shadow self. This is a force to be reckoned with, and God help us all and give us the courage and strength to transform it, because it is our misplaced power. All power is energy and energy can never be destroyed, only transformed. Its really our ‘key’ to creating Heaven on Earth, the heart mission of every human being. Perhaps
as the Gods of Mars check in on the level of human affairs and
"test" how we’ve evolved (or not as the case may be) in
Martian affairs, we might use this as an opportunity to send up prayers to
the Lords of Mars for peace. We might even have the opportunity to receive
telepathy from these ancient Gods so that we too might understand where
they are at. The Gods evolve as well, I wonder how far they’ve come in
60,000 earth years? Hmmm. Imagine that, praying to the God of War for
Peace? Now that would be a shift in the Cosmos ;-) I wonder if he’s
ready for it?
