Libra Eclipse

Astrologically speaking, eclipse energies have a six month influence, and will sometimes last a year due to the fact that every six months we have eclipses, which often overlap each other in reverse signs. Both of these current eclipse patterns are carried over by the set of eclipses we had in the Spring of 2004 (please see Current Planetary Trends) which were in opposite signs. The Solar Eclipse @ 21 degrees of Libra on October 13, 2004 indicates turning points and new beginnings in the realms of relationships, partnerships and unions of all kinds, matters of justice and the balance of peace and war. Solar Eclipses have long term influences that span out for six months till the next eclipse pattern. The sign the eclipse takes place in has a lot to do with where those changes will take place, Libra themes are compromise, sacrifice for others and diplomacy. Libra seeks harmony, beauty, romance and is the sign of "charm".

We have been in a Moon & Solar Wobble since September 24, 2004 and will last through November 22, 2004. (See Moon Wobble) Moon Wobbles are cosmic clocks when personal issues and emotions surface especially disowned anger and frustration come to a head. This is why there is usually so much more violence during Wobbles as well as accidents. In Libra, we are faced with mirror aspects of ourselves. What we disown or deny about ourselves, we project onto our relationships. For this reason, many relationships and partnerships are breaking up.

How long a Moon Wobble and Moon/Solar Wobbles last vary according to other planetary factors that can trigger the point of Moon Wobble earlier or prolonging it turning it into a Moon/Solar Wobble. During Moon Wobble the instability factor is high, resulting in more accidents, fires, plane crashes, freak accidents, floods, feats of nature, bizarre weather patterns, earthquakes, tornadoes, violence, terrorism, riots, and political and personal upheavals. 

All Cycles ultimately serve our growth if we will work with the cycle instead of against it.  The Moon Wobble energy only amplifies any problems there already are, causing the problem or problems to be dealt with.  Facing a Moon Wobble situation constructively, can become a blessing in disguise. The Libra Eclipse creates a ‘T’ square to Saturn and Chiron. ‘T’ squares indicate the energy fields of initiatory experiences, they represent the impetus for growth through the friction of challenges, but usually the energy to overcome them and create a new pattern or pioneer new thought forms and lead the way for progress and improvement. I will delineate each square individually here:

This eclipse squares Saturn in Cancer. Squares indicate challenges and crises. Libra is about choices. Saturn is about responsibilities. This aspect calls for the need to take responsibility for the choices we make now, for the decisions we make will not only be karmic (Saturn) but will have repercussions way into the future.

Saturn in Cancer rules over security, food sources, nutrition, nourishment and real estate. Libra is the sign of balance. While the politics of this season focuses on ‘National Security’, another ‘weighty’ issue coming out of this square is the ‘Weight Crisis’ that faces America today which is unprecedented. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions. There have never been so many overweight people in this country which has tripled in the last 10 years alone! The Food Choices Americans are making are making them sick, diseased, degenerated and fat. Obesity is the leading cause of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke, which are all preventable causes of death through nutrition and lifestyle. During the course of Jupiter’s journey through Libra, Jupiter will square off with Saturn in Cancer, and legal issues will expand these issues into the mass consciousness which will make this epidemic even bigger than it is, before we actually begin to see signs of healing and correction.

Many children are the unfortunate victims of this epidemic as they are subjected to the poor food choices of their parents, their government’s rulings through Food School Programs who are whipped into submission and controlled by greedy big Food Corporations Lobbyists. Change is in the wind, but not before some major legal and political battles.

This Solar Eclipse along with Jupiter in Libra indicates the expansion of the ‘Middle Path’. On every level of our lives, as a global community we are being called to return to balance. Some of us are so way out of balance that in order for balance to actually be achieved, many will need to swing to the opposite side of the pendulum in order to find the middle way. As scales are mechanical, so are pendulums and this eclipse represents the fulcrum point for us.

The Libra Eclipse also squares Chiron in Capricorn. This particular square highlights the ‘wounds’ we’ve received through relationships and the ‘shadow’ it inevitably produces. What and where is your shadow? Here’s a little self-test you can use to find them. Do you have a tendency to judge others? Are you angry, irritable or reclusive? Are you jealous and/or envious of others’ success or relationships? If you’ve honestly answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions, say ‘hello’ to your shadow. Many wounds stem from childhood, from one’s first relationships with their mother or father. Chiron in Capricorn usually indicates wounds connected with authority figures. It’s time to forgive and claim your power back. Chiron in Capricorn collectively is about the wounds connected with punishment, being over-disciplined and being abused by authority figures. The Libra square challenges the tension and tendency to be hard on oneself and others, it offers the ‘space’ to be gentle with oneself and gentle with loved ones. These planetary aspects offer many of us the opportunity to heal these old collective archetypal patterns and infuse ourselves and our loved ones with new codings and new patternings. Time for an upgrade! While this aspect refers to our personal evolution, it also expands to our collective evolution and they way we view those in authority.

In Libra we are faced with the dilemma of contradictions, polarization of opposites, quelling the inner and outer conflicts and somehow managing to keep the peace while doing so. Sometimes it is better to walk away from a potential argument than to be right. Libra is all about sowing and reaping. Saturn, the Lord of Karma is exalted in Libra, which dictates the law of ‘that which you sow, you will reap in its own time’. Love trumps all, as the old saying goes, "Love covers a multitude of sins." In Libra we often find the paradox of avoiding confrontations at all costs at the expense of expressing one’s true feelings. Most Librans will repress their anger to avoid hurting another’s feelings, this is an admirable quality however, it’s not always healthy to avoid their own feelings of anger and stuff them. This is why many Librans find themselves in a constant battle with the ‘scales’. They turn to feel good pursuits like sweets and comfort foods in order to keep their anger buried. They are people pleasers and they need to balance their own needs with those of others.

Jupiter’s’ journey through Libra from September 25, 2004 through October 26, 2005, give Librans the opportunity to ‘expand’ in more ways than one. In fact, Jupiter in Libra will give everyone the opportunity to grow socially and politically with the emphasis being on ‘relationships’. Life is about relationship. This is a time where we become aware of our ‘connectedness’ with each other and the cosmos. We are all called now to ponder the deeper meanings behind all of our relationships. Libra is the sign of justice, fairness and peace.

Libra is about relating, it is ruled by loving Venus. Venus ruled Libra is "lovely", "peace loving", "harmonious and affectionate". Librans will sacrifice themselves for their relationships and partners. Jupiter in Libra will create awareness of the sacrifice we make for those we love and the lengths many will go to keep the peace. Some of which will be the ultimate sacrifice which will be their ‘life’ in ‘peace-keeping’ efforts around the world.

This country is in the middle of a Spiritual Crisis. Jupiter has long ruled over religions. With Jupiter in Libra we are given the opportunity to realize that religion only works if it is based on love. The square between Pluto in Sagittarius to the US Neptune in Virgo, is going to shatter the Puritan values that were brought here by the pilgrims. It is certainly time for an ‘adjustment’. The word ‘Religion’ means ‘the way’, which comes from the Latin root, ‘religio’. However, American religions have become political parties. Almost every religion in the world has the path of love woven in it, so that every follower on the path has the opportunity to find it, depending on the way of their heart. When people find this path within religion they are not just practicing their religion, they are in essence practicing "Spirituality". Unfortunately, not every religious follower finds this path within their religion. Many attempt to follow the ‘letter of the law’ as opposed to the ‘spirit of the law’, and their ‘fruit’ (energy) is cold, judgmental and hypocritical.

Equally, every religion on the planet has the seeds of judgment and separation in it, which is why religion fails so many people and nations as a whole. Choice of religion is as personal as the choices we make on what we like to eat. Each choice follows responsibility for our spirit and body. Jupiter in Libra will make many face their ‘religious’ or ‘non-religious’ choices as the case may be. Religious Choice and Religious Freedom is a constitutional right. We are at a crossroads (square) where society and government need to recognize that and accept all people accordingly, regardless of whether they belong to your ‘club’ or not.

In the United States chart, the progressed Sun has just entered into Pisces this year, which means we enter a 30 year phase of Religious Crises, Martyrdom and ultimately the evolution of Cosmic Consciousness and Universal Compassion. Uranus is still in the early degrees of Pisces, which is conjunct the US Progressed Sun, which begins some radical changes in the way America will allow religious thought forms and religious zealots to steer the direction of this country. What Jupiter in Libra will offer us, is the opportunity to see ourselves in the ‘mirror’ of the world. Religious Wars are certainly nothing new, they are however, something that are becoming outgrown and blocking not only the spiritual evolution of humanity, but the scientific and innovative progress as well. Either way you slice it, our nation has a 30 year spiritual and religious crisis on our hands that will see its share of martyrs, sacrificial lambs and scapegoats before resolution and peace is restored.

Back to peace and anger…. The sign of the ‘scales’ is about the ‘mirror’ and ‘reflection’ of opposites, which is why its job is to balance. If Libra ignores and denies its own shadow yet judges the shadow of others, it creates imbalance. If Libra acknowledges its own rage without judging others for theirs and is conscious of dealing with it within their selves and even through conflict resolution with others, Libra achieves balance, peace and harmony with themselves and with others. Clarity and respect for opposing viewpoints can lead to the reconciliation and harmonizing of opposites which will produce new solutions. Some Librans are masters at doing this while others continue to fool themselves. Energy that is repressed has to go somewhere. The Libra Eclipse offers us the opportunity to learn how to transmute through forgiveness of self and others and then it’s easy to keep the peace. We can now learn how to redefine a problem in such a way that opposing forces are seen as complementary rather than competitive. This technique is worth learning. By relaxing our mental analyses and tuning into our intuitive selves, we can see how it’s possible to reconcile and create harmonious ‘hybrid solutions’.

Most religions lead to the path of love which is God and/or spiritual union with God. If you are rude to people, if you judge others for their beliefs or non-beliefs, then your religion isn’t working for you. Libra is the sign of consideration. Librans are rarely ever rude to people, and if they are they are usually unaware of it. Libra strives for harmonious relations. Jupiter’s passage through Libra will illuminate all the rude and intolerant exchanges between people, almost like a sore thumb. It’s time to correct that. If people want to bring more love into the world, then perhaps they need to start with very simple acts, like behaving themselves in traffic and remember there are people behind those wheels.

As a result of this ‘see saw’ effect that Libra goes through, a ‘scapegoat’ is needed at times to absorb the blame. Scapegoating doesn’t require truth or justice, it is the result of the collective projection of guilt, judgment and shame. Some situations are wired to such a degree that heads must roll. Those who subject themselves to a position such as this know the odds and prepare to undergo their fate in the way of the warrior – with composure and dignity. It is the calling of the rest to show compassion for this person, always remembering that yet for the grace of God it could have been them. There is no moral stain on those who find themselves in the position of the scapegoat, there is one however, on those who judge themselves to be superior and immune to this fate. Ultimately, the ordeal will have been worth it if it brings the participants to a new point of view and release from the past.

This reminds me of people who in times of great turmoil and division like to think of themselves as above the fray, while pointing fingers at everyone around them for having passionate views and being part of the debate. Let’s face it, most Librans love debate, this is why this sign is so paradoxical. They love to debate, yet they think of themselves as above and beyond the fracas. They will argue yet they choose to deny that they contribute to the attacks and conflict. These folk will eventually see themselves in the midst of some self created drama, perhaps even the scapegoat themselves as their own projections from their denials will manifest in their life. However, there are those who truly are above the fray, while remaining objective and refraining from judgment and finger pointing. These are the ones who have mastered the Libran energy.

Jupiter in Libra will teach us all how to have more compassion and still have justice. (Justice is not Revenge) Justice is blind as they say, because it follows an immutable law of sowing and reaping. It’s nothing personal, it is the law of karma. Jupiter in Libra will expand our social consciousness in many ways as well as our awareness of ‘karma’. Karma is simply the law of cause and effect. It can be good and it can be bad. Libra represents ‘choice’. It is the sign of decisions and indecisions. This is why it is so connected to karma, as karma is all about the choices one makes and their responsibility to them. The Buddhic belief is based on all suffering and sorrow is caused through man’s ignorance of his true spiritual nature and the spiritual nature of God which strives to find the ‘middle path’. That the solution to many of man’s troubles and sufferings are found through self awareness. Once self awareness is achieved, one is able to make better choices to improve their karma. Jupiter in Libra will indeed help and support this process for everyone globally. It will make us aware of the consequences of our choices, good, bad or indifferent. Justice will take place on many levels.

Jupiter’s passage through Virgo this passed year has had a "cleansing" effect on many. Jupiter was in opposition to Uranus for awhile, so when it rained, it poured. Now Jupiter will make positive aspects to Neptune, so our awareness of our spiritual natures and our social consciousness will expand and progress. When Jupiter was in Virgo there was a tendency to major on minors, and become overly critical of everyone and everything. This came to a head when Jupiter conjoined the Sun and Mars during the week of September 19, 2004. While criticism certainly has its place, it can be over done where the ‘Petty Tyrant’ misuses this energy so it can feel powerful and in control, another illusion. Jupiter’s entrance into Libra has more of an easiness about it, where it is much more forgiving of petty errors and does not take things so personally. Again Jupiter in Libra increases our awareness of sowing and reaping…if you want to point fingers, the universe will mirror it all back to you. Intention is ‘key’ here. Justice follows not just actions but intention as well. It will be a time where we will become more aware of ‘picking and choosing our battles’ more carefully.

There is hypocrisy to be dealt with in Libra, and the combination of the Libra Eclipse coupled with Jupiter’s expansive year long journey through Libra, will certainly bring this into the collective consciousness. There will be debates, controversy, paradoxes, civil wars, and out right rebellions in the name of "justice". There will be legal decisions that will reach far and wide due to the Jupiter’s influence, some of which will be unprecedented.

The Egyptian Goddess Maat rules over Libra. According to Egyptian Legends she was the one who hold the scales that measures a man’s heart in the afterlife. The scales balance a rock and a feather. If the heart was giving, forgiving, light hearted, generous and kind, the scales would tilt in favor of the feather and the soul was granted entrance into the heavenly realms of the afterlife. However, if the heart was heavy, judgmental, cruel, vengeful and unforgiving, the scales would tilt towards the rock and the soul would be judged back into another life on earth.

October 27 @ 9:07p.m. MT, the Lunar Eclipse is at 6 degrees of Taurus and 6 degrees of Scorpio. This is at the time of the year where the veils between the physical and the spiritual worlds are at their thinnest, which marks the annual celebration of All Hallows Eve. Full Moons emphasize and illuminate our shadows and Lunar Eclipses give us a double dose of that, only after the 3 day Full Moon period wanes, the influence of a Lunar Eclipse lasts for 6 months.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the sign of transformation, regeneration, death and rebirth. This eclipse brings to light all that must die and be reborn. The reflection of the Taurus Full Moon causes us to re-evaluate the things in life we value. This Eclipse will have a direct impact on the economies of the world, as well as our own personal relationship with money. The Taurus/Scorpio polarity illuminates the money axis. Full Moons are always emotional times, and this one brings up all the emotions connected to money and the power it has.

Typically: Taurus rules over ‘My Money’ and Scorpio is ‘Our Money’; both signs are fixed, stubborn and determined. Areas influenced: Insurances, Taxes, Investments, Joint Accounts, Credit Cards, Loans, the Treasury, the National Debt are all areas ruled by this Eclipse pattern.

The fact that this eclipse is only 6 days prior the General Election will undoubtedly influence the way American will vote. Due to all the catastrophic events this passed year, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and fires, insurance premiums will rise cross the board to cover costs. More people have filed bankruptcy since 9-11 than any time in history, which will continue to rise in the following months.

In the United States (Sibly) chart, this eclipse falls into the 5^th house which indicates that national risks taken over the last year will have a devastating effect on the US economy. The 5^th house rules the stock market and the full moon lunar eclipse in the US chart indicates loss from speculation. Iraq was such a risk financially, as nearly 200 billion dollars have poured into the war effort. This eclipse represents a turning point, where collectively and nationally we will face our worst ‘fears’ that this was a failure, both economically, politically and on humanitarian levels. The 5^th house also is the house of creativity, and the fact the this eclipse falls into this house indicates an ending, death and the opportunity to ‘re-create’ and build from its ashes, like the mythical phoenix which is Scorpio ruled. The fact that the Sun in the Eclipse pattern falls in the 11^th house of the US chart, indicates that the public has faced this truth and the shadows are once and for all being dealt with as the collective choose ‘new leadership’ in this upcoming Political Election, which are all 11^th house activities. This eclipse brings the truth out of denial. The 11^th house typically leans towards the left wing movement of legislation which ‘eclipses’ the right during this cycle. The 11^th house indicates the eclipse of international friendships, new technologies, a new political atmosphere, new social alliances, an eclipse in geopolitics, governmental interference, airports, economic advancements, business prosperity, the senate, the legislative house and House of Representatives will all be influenced by the Eclipse of October 27, 2004.

It will take some time to ‘rebuild’ the losses of the national 5^th house (stock market), but the hope is in the ‘change’ of leadership which has the opportunity to turn over a ‘new leaf’ and steer the country in a new direction. It only takes a crack of light to illuminate the darkness.

The USA Chart (Sibly) shows a major shift actually occurs on Election Day November 2, 2004 for the USA. The progressed Sun which moves 1 degree per year enters into Pisces which is the first time in this nation’s 228 year history to experience this. Interestingly, this phase begins exactly on November 2, 2004 and will last for 30 years. This will mirror the "Piscean Age" our planet is coming out of between the years 2050-2100 AD, and it’s interesting that America will have its own spiritual and religious crisis on its hand to work out.

Progressions indicate evolution, and this shows this country is on the path to ultimately understand Cosmic Consciousness, Cosmic Union and Universal Compassion through its grand ‘melting pot’ and the Pisces ‘pea soup’ of religious and spiritual belief systems that makes up America and the world. What emerges out of this 30 year ‘shake & bake’ & ‘blending’ of opposites, has the potential to lead the planet’s course of human consciousness. The face of Religion as we know it today will change. It’s time for this nation to grow up as it reaches its final phase of spiritual karma and module of lessons. Pisces is the 12^th and last sign in the zodiacal cycles. It a sign that represents great sacrifice in the name of its belief systems. It indicates martyrs, suffering and sainthood, bondage, institutions, prisons, hospitals, and is the sign of suicide. It rules over orphans, widows and the lonely.

It is also the energy of Compassion, Empathy and Understanding for all. Astrologers have endearingly called Pisces the "cesspool of the zodiac" as it represents a merging and mutation of many types of beliefs which find their "cosmic union" (common denominator) in the ocean of consciousness and Divine Love. We enter this phase divided – those who survive after its 30 year cycle will emerge with greater understanding, acceptance and compassion for all as many outworn aspects of organized religion, its dogmas and useless traditions fade into history. Why? Because time and the evolving consciousness will sift through that which no longer serves the evolving spirit and will of course retain the rest. Pisces is the sign of the ‘old soul’. During these major shifts, the Older Souls transform at an accelerated rate to support the collective transformation. Challenges come up constantly for the older Souls to increase and master ‘self-awareness’ through meeting their ‘Shadow Self’ through their relationships with others. Pisces is the sign of Cosmic Union. We cannot have true union with others if we do not have it within.

Essentially Pisces is the sign of faith and so it manifests in either the Dream or the Nightmare. Pisces is also the sign of great sorrow, which is why its energy can be so confusing. It is the sign of the Mystic, the Shaman, and the Psychic, who are guides and teachers that have mastered the Piscean energy. It requires great clarity and discernment to master the Piscean energy. Many have to sort through their fair share of disenchantment and despair before they emerge out of the Pisces pea soup. There is a vampiric side to Pisces because of its sensitivity and vulnerability. There is that side which feeds off of other people’s sufferings and therefore has been tagged as the sign of victimhood. This country will begin to recognize over the next 30 years how victim consciousness is a self-created bondage and how pervasive its tentacles are rooted within so many of this country’s religious foundations. Once we as a group can overcome Victim Consciousness, we will no longer attract situations that cause us to be victimized, whether it’s by outside or inside terrorists, or any other kind of perpetrator, persecutor or abductor. How does Victim Consciousness play out in the country today? Health care is a huge area where people choose to be victims and refuse to take responsibility for their own health and well being. Sure Modern Medicine has the technology to save lives and thank God for its advances, but so many of this nation’s top causes of death, are actually preventable. We need to become more responsible with what we choose to put into our bodies, what we feed our minds and spirits. It’s our life. If we give our power away, we will set ourselves up to be victims. It’s all relative.

Pisces symbol is two fish swimming in opposite directions. One is fear, one is love. The merging of the two creates compassion, cosmic union with the Divine and the Transcendence of polarities.

Terrorism is a spiritual problem which manifests itself through the masks of religion. While fighting the war on terror on the ground we need to fight the ‘war on fear’ within. As we shift collectively, so will the energy that we attract. When we move away from fear-based doctrines and recognize them for what they are, we begin purging and transforming energies which ultimately change us individually and collectively. It’s not about which religion is better than the other, all religions have their seeds of fear within as well as seeds of love. Unfortunately, fear is a great "controller" of the masses, most people are locked into the tentacles of fear. This Piscean cycle will shake that up and work that out through a series of national dramas.

The mutual reception of Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius represents a time where we will be taking leaps in progress both scientifically and spiritually. The merging of spirit and science is what the Aquarian Age is about and these two ‘giants’ doing their cosmic dance in each others’ cosmic space will produce many new inventions and intuitions about the mysteries of life, spirit and science.

In Astrology cellular growth is however ruled by the 9^th house (Sagittarius), and Pluto’s journey through Sagittarius until 2009 will bring about the application of this new science. Pluto in Sagittarius is causing transformation in many ‘Sagittarian’ issues, such as belief systems, morals, legislature and religion. Pluto’s influence is that of transformation, first there is the break down, death and decay stages and then the rebirth and regeneration stage. This is why, by the time Pluto has completed its trip through Sagittarius in 2009, there will be new laws written on what today seems like a controversial topic. Mercury stations retrograde on November 30, 2004 – December 20, 2004. Mercury will come out of its retrograde shadow on February 14, 2004. Mercury’s shadow is caused by its’ orbit behind the Sun and will only catch up with the Sun on February 14, 2004. Even though Mercury goes direct on December 20, 2004, the period between December 20, 2004 and February 14, 2004 is a kind of ‘clean up’ phase, as many of the ‘issues’ dealt with during the retrograde often take that long to be corrected and for energies to flow freely again. The fact that the holiday shopping season is colored by Mercury Retrograde means that there will be more returns than usual, more items that will be faulty and the shipping of items will have more than its share of delays, back order items, that for some may not get straightened out till the new year. It would be wise if you’re planning large expensive gifts or gifts that are technological in nature to make your purchases before Mercury goes retrograde to insure their integrity and timely delivery. Mercury retrograde is not a time to sign important contracts, agreements, begin new jobs, get married or buy real estate. Wait and/or schedule these activities either before or after the retrograde for success.

What’s interesting about Christmas Day this year, is the void of course moon in Gemini, which often ‘feels’ like a Mercury retrograde. Focus on gratitude, no matter what comes your way, everything can be fixed eventually. Maybe you can save it for next Christmas. J
