ASTROLOGY, MEDICINE AND YOU?
© 1994 By Roxanne Carol

Hippocrates, one of the forefathers of medicine, said, "A physician cannot safely administer medicine if he is unacquainted with astrology."

For the past few centuries, the medical profession has chosen to overlook that advice completely. However, physicians take the "Hippocratic oath" before they begin their medical practice, yet they ignore a mandate of the patron saint.

For centuries, every physician was an astrologer. Nostradamus, was first schooled in the application of herbs in connection with astrology, and was a valuable physician and healer during his time.

The value of astrology as diagnostic tool is that it offers the ability to locate and observe the tendency toward weakness in a particular part of the body and apply antidotes to the conditions before they can manifest as a serious illness. Preventive medicine can be applied more effectively if a person has some clue as to where to focus attention, as well as some understanding of why and when an illness might strike. Thomas Edison said, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."

Paracellsus, another forefather of the medical profession and modern healing, believed that disease originated from one of five basic causes. One of them being astral and/or cosmic influences acting upon one’s etheric or vital body, which sets in motion certain vibratory rates causing imbalance or chemical conflict. He also implies that disease originates from spiritual causes. When he speaks of spiritual conflicts, he mentions that these conflicts may exist before birth, for example previous lifetimes, i.e., karmic patterns which are accessed by means of the astrological chart. As a matter of fact, psychiatrists have been flocking to university astrology courses because they have become aware of the value and practical use of this time-honored technique, which literally cuts their work in half.

Medical astrology, effectively used as a diagnostic tool for ages, along with herbology are parts of an ancient system which is a combination of science and intuition, making it what we term today as a spiritual-science. Herbs have been used for "medicinal" purposes and preventative measures for centuries. It is important to note that the modern work "medicine" was actually derived from the Latin work "madeira" which means to meditate. This is where the Native American’s phrase "Medicine Man" or "Medicine Woman" originated from. Much time was spent in meditation, to "tune" into the "cause" of distress, thus being able to come up with a remedy or cure, whether that "medicine" meant actual ingestion of certain "medicinal" herbs, or being empowered through the "medicine" of the animal spirits and essence of personal totems. Meditation, clearly was practiced on the path to healing and wholeness.

Through the use of medical astrology, people can be guided to which form of therapy or modality will work best for them. We are all living on the same planet, but we are not all the same. We come into this existence with different tendencies, challenges and lessons to learn on various different levels. As many astrologers realize, the horoscope reveals challenges the soul chooses or has brought with it from previous lifetimes. Health matters are included in such challenges, and through the analysis of the birth chart on a physical, emotional and psychological level, these predispositions are evident in the blueprint. This type of information which is accessed from the horoscope can be compared to what has been pre-programmed in the DNA cells. Genetics often reveals answers to why some become victims of certain illnesses, diseases, or birth defects, with no fault of their own, the gene pool kicks in a gene perhaps from some ancient ancestor who through environmental factors of through lifestyle, mutated and unknowingly triggered a change in their genetic structure. If a picture of the heavens at one’s moment and place of birth, could indicate one’s genetic propensities, then why isn’t this tool being utilized in the United States? Health practitioners and doctors in Russian, South American, Greece, Germany, France, Spain and England are currently using medical astrology to aid in the diagnostic process. More research is definitely called for.

A mutation is now occurring. This mutation is being psychically transmitted by the Uranus/Neptune conjunction which is pulled together by electromagnetic energies and is being broadcast to our planet so that a change and a reordering will take place. The change will be inherited and permanent in the DNA. Our DNA is evolving, just as we are evolving. New helixes and strands are being formed and have begun to assemble themselves together. This explains the numerous happening to many of us. As a result, an awakening of many brain cells which have been lying dormant will come into use. This will create a more evolved nervous system (Uranus) which will in turn allow more data to be absorbed (Neptune) into our consciousness.

Cosmic coincidence? Whatever happens during the "new moon" cycle of the Uranus/Neptune conjunction, is no coincidence. The answers to our dilemmas are as readily available to us as the problems themselves, just as the answers to our present and future are rooted in the past. As the Ancient Wise King Solomon has said, "There is nothing new under the sun."

Isn’t it uncanny how history repeats itself? Humanity seams to have a tough time learning its lessons. As the teacher or taskmaster will say, one learns through repetition. But what are these lessons we seem to keep repeating? The apparent ongoing lessons of responsibility to each other and future generations.

We are now faced through the "powers that be" to relinquish some of these ancient systems of healing that have been passed down to us for literally ages, to restrictions and censorship by the "almighty" AMA and FDA. It is time we do something about this. There are alternatives. Just because your medical doctor doesn’t promote alternative therapies does not mean they are not viable and substantive methods and systems of healing.

People need to be re-educated. Doctors are not all that they are "quacked" up to be. Doesn’t the present system tell you that? Do astronomical medical bills make sense to you?

Some workable and practical solutions to bridging the gap between conventional medicine and alternative or natural healing techniques would be to educate the public on alternative therapies and incorporate these modalities into the modern medical high-tech profession. Why not?

We are fortunate to live in an era where the two worlds can meet and co-exist, cooperate and balance each other. It no longer has to be one way or the other. This is where the AMA needs to evolve and make its next leap. "By the early 1900s American medicine began to enter its Dark Age. Only now is it beginning to emerge from those decades of darkness, as a new holistic movement calls for treating the entire mind physical system, instead of concentrating on one affected part or symptom" (from Murder by Injection – the story of the medical conspiracy against America by Eustace Mullins).

Part of this condition has to do with our willingness to take responsibility for our own bodies. As a result we have become a complacent society dependant on a co-dependant government to give us health care to make us well. The only solution is a fusion of both systems in order for us as a race to feel whole. The present health care system needs to walk with two feet, putting one foot in front of the other, as opposed to trying to balance it all on one leg. It’s like getting the right and left brain to operate together – challenging, but possible.
